American Red Cross provides relief to Apartment Fire residents
Volunteers on the front line providing much needed support
FORT MYERS, May 2 – The American Red Cross of Lee County responded quickly when called on by Lee County Emergency Management to provide relief to the fire at the Horizon Apartments and provide refreshments to the hard working Firemen last night and today.
Six committed American Red Cross Volunteers provided for the needs of 19 residents of the Horizon apartments – 12 units were affected with smoke and water damage and one had major damage. We are temporarily sheltering and providing groceries to these individuals through the weekend until the apartment complex has other habitable apartments available. The residents were provided emotional support and guidance(including housing and food) and were given referrals to other organizations that can provide additional support in relation to their situation
