May 3, 2008 - Lee County Red Cross responds to apartment fire The American Red Cross of Lee County responded quickly when called on by Lee County Emergency Management to provide relief to the fire at the Horizon Apartments and provide refreshments to the hard working Firemen last night and today.

Toddlers run the greatest risk of drowning and helping to eliminate this 100-percent preventable cause of death has been part of the mission of the Lee County Red Cross for over 90 years.

April 29, 2008 - Steve Callari resigns as Disaster Chair Following a successful disaster preparedness drill Saturday, April 26, Steve Callari, Chair of Disaster Services, has resigned his position. He will stay active with the chapter in an advisory role.

April 26, 2008- Chapter executes successful flood drill The American Red Cross of Lee County is currently sheltering 2,491 flood-affected residents in four shelters. Based on information from the National Weather Center, the Red Cross does not expect the shelter population to grow further.

April 16, 2008 - Carlene Sharples named Volunteer of the Year The American Red Cross of Lee County named Pine Island resident and long-time chapter volunteer Carlene Sharples with its annual Volunteer of the Year award at a recognition dinner

April 8, 2008- American Red Cross names new President and CEO The American Red Cross Board of Governors has announced the approval of Gail J. McGovern as the next President and CEO of the American Red Cross.  She will officially be welcomed to the Red Cross on June 23.

March 15, 2008- StarStruck 2008 raises over $100,000 With great elegance, Shell Factory Vice President Pam Cronin tangoed and fundraised her way to the StarStruck 2008 title Saturday at the International Design Center in Estero.

February 6, 2008- Lee County deploys volunteers to tornado relief effort Across five southern states, Red Cross people and supplies, including two volunteers from the Lee County chapter, are flowing in to provide care and comfort to those affected by the devastating tornadoes.
