Welch Custom Homes extends helping hand in wake of home fire
Custom homebuilder will take donations for Red Cross throughout December

FORT MYERS, Dec. 3– The home of a long-time business friend went up in flames Monday and has prompted an area homebuilder to lend a helping a hand.
Welch Custom Homes is proud to be a donation collection point for the American Red Cross of Lee County from Dec. 5 to Dec. 31. Welch is asking residents to consider a gift to the Red Cross so it can continue to provide emergency support to families who suffer through disasters, like Monday’s home fire, which caused major damage to the home of a long-time business friend.
Donations can be made at the Welch Custom Homes model home, which is at The Renaissance on Daniels Parkway. The address is 12780 Terabella Way, Fort Myers. To reach Welch Custom Homes by phone, call 239-931-4441. You can also send or bring donations to the American Red Cross of Lee County at 6310 Techster Blvd, Ste 7, Fort Myers, FL 33966 /239-278-3401.
The large majority of disasters are single-family fires, and these fires tend to strike more often during the holiday season. From July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007, the American Red Cross of Lee County helped 155 families get back on their feet after a fire. The number of fires that the American Red Cross responds to each year locally has risen 100 percent since 2004. The average assistance given to a family in a home fire is between $1500 and $2000. The American Red Cross responded to more than 74,000 disasters in communities across the United States last year, and 93 percent of these were fire related.
