September 20, 2007 - American Red Cross of Lee County Legacy Breakfast Honored Tom Smoot Jr.

The Planned Giving Committee of the American Red Cross of Lee County organized the Fifth Annual Legacy Breakfast to honor the leadership and achievement of Tom Smoot Jr. The event was held at the Broadway Palm – Cabaret room on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007. Mr. Smoot has supported outstanding contributions to promote and facilitate the charitable giving in the Lee County Community, like the work towards the creation of the SW Florida Community Foundation, current service on the American Rd Cross Advisory Council and the addition of the Ford Estate to the current Edison/Ford Winter Estates. Mr. Smoot’s charitable roots are deep in Ft. Myers, his father was the volunteer disaster chairperson at the American Red Cross of Lee County during the Hurricanes of 1944 and 1947. Tom Smoot III provided wonderful, amusing insight to his father’s work in the community and John Sheppard (2006 Legacy Award Recipient) presented the Legacy Award to his long time friend.
The event was generously underwritten by Cummings and Lockwood LLC and Green Schoenfeld & Kyle, LLP.
